This stretch of trail 591 runs down from the Mesco headland to Levanto: 3.3 kilometres and about two and a quarter hours according to the National Park. Together with trail 590 it completes the crossing from Monterosso to Levanto.
It starts at the junction near the hermitage of Sant'Antonio del Mesco. After a short climb, by a lookout turret, it leaves the shared route and turns left towards the sea, with fine views of the coast between the Mesco and Levanto. The ground is partly rocky and skirts a pine wood sick with Matsucoccus.
It reaches Case Lovara, restored by the FAI and surrounded by fields brought back to farming. It then runs almost level through the scrub to the Rocca Spaccata and drops into a holm-oak wood. Near the Giada del Mesco the path leaves the Park: a short stretch of tarmac, then scattered houses and fields down to Levanto.
