Trail 571 climbs from trail 591, between Levanto and the Mesco, to the summit of Monte Focone at 488 metres, and descends the other side to rejoin the 591. The National Park allows an hour and three quarters one way.

The lower starting point is where the 591 climbs on a tarmac road, at 163 metres. Walk back along the road towards Levanto for about 200 metres and turn right onto the service dirt road to Case Massola and Faraggiana. Past the last houses and a few hairpins you reach a wide level area at 308 metres, called Ciegheza.

From here the route becomes a real path and climbs the north-west ridge of Monte Focone to the top. It then descends the opposite ridge and rejoins the 591 between the Colla dei Bagari and Sant'Antonio al Mesco.
