Finale Ligure is one of the places on the western Riviera where you need a car the least. The station is in the centre of Finalmarina, six hundred metres from the sea, and every train on the Genoa–Ventimiglia line stops here. From there Finalborgo, Finalpia and the beaches are walkable; for Varigotti there is the bus. This guide lists the ways to get here and the real distances, measured on the OpenStreetMap street network.
By train
The station is called Finale Ligure Marina and stands in piazza Vittorio Veneto. According to the town's tourist website it is a compulsory stop for every train in both directions: the regional trains and the Intercity services running along the coast between Genoa and Ventimiglia. For France, take a regional or Intercity train to Ventimiglia and change there to French trains.
Timetables and tickets are on the Trenitalia website.
By car
Leave the A10 motorway at the Finale Ligure exit; the A10 is the Genoa–Ventimiglia motorway, which continues west towards the Côte d'Azur. Town has several paid car parks, and many hotels and apartments have private parking: ask when you book, because in summer it is what makes the difference.
If you drive to the beach, two equipped free beaches help: near the Ponente beach, a few steps from the station, there is free and paid parking, and in Varigotti the 20Riviera beach has a private car park 50 metres away. Malpasso can be reached by car or with a walk of about 400 metres from the village.
