Finale Ligure's beaches run along about eight kilometres of coast, broken by a line of headlands: from east to west Capo Noli, the Varigotti promontory with Punta Crena, Capo San Donato, the Colombera, the Gòttaro and finally the Caprazoppa, the mountain that closes Finale to the west. Each stretch between one headland and the next has its own character, and the choice depends mostly on how you get there: on foot from the station, by bus or by car.

The six Blue Flags of 2026

In 2026 Finale Ligure holds the Blue Flag for six stretches of beach:

  • Finalmarina
  • Finalpia
  • Castelletto San Donato
  • Spiaggia del Porto
  • Varigotti
  • Malpasso

In practice almost the town's whole coastline is awarded. The town also holds the Bandiera Lilla, the Italian award for services to travellers with disabilities.

Finalmarina: the station beach

This is the long beach in front of the centre, with the promenade, the beach clubs and the gardens with children's play areas. The Ponente equipped free beach, the former Finanza beach, is right next to the station: it is the easiest choice if you arrive by train, and there is free and paid parking nearby. It took part in the "Il Mare per Tutti" project and offers services for visually impaired people too, from equipment hire to free swimming lessons.

Finalpia and the Castelletto

East of Castelfranco begins Finalpia, with the beach in front of the district. The promenade continues below the Castelletto to Capo San Donato, home to the Castelletto beach and the Spiaggia del Porto, both Blue Flag. Here is the Marina di Capo San Donato, the public marina opened in 1964, which takes more than 500 boats and lies within the Pelagos Cetacean Sanctuary: sailing trips and dives leave from here.

Varigotti

After Capo San Donato the coast becomes Varigotti's: the village of low, colourful houses sits on the beach, and the seafront leads to piazza Lagorio and the Renato Castellani pier. The 20Riviera equipped free beach is the widest in Varigotti: it has a 250-metre wooden boardwalk down to the water, Job chairs to get into the sea, raised sunbeds with armrests and staff trained to welcome people with disabilities. There is private parking 50 metres away, and it is easy to reach by bus too.

Above Varigotti, on the slopes towards the Manie, are the small clusters of houses hanging over the sea: Monte, Selva, Ca' dei Mori, Pino and Chien.

The Baia dei Saraceni

This is the most photographed bay in the Finale area, between the village of Varigotti and Punta Crena, about a kilometre's walk from piazza Lagorio. The Capo San Donato marina's information lists it, with Punta Crena, among the nearest safe anchorages: a natural shelter, as its shape suggests.

Malpasso

Beyond Punta Crena, towards Noli, the coast changes: high cliffs of grey limestone drop straight into the sea. This stretch has always been called Malpasso. The Malpasso equipped free beach is 380 metres long, enclosed between Capo Noli and Punta Crena, and you reach it by car or with a walk of about 400 metres from the village. Its position and the current make the water especially clear, and the rock face behind it keeps the temperature lower in the hottest hours. It has a stair lift, paths for people with reduced mobility and equipment for moving on the sand and getting into the water.

Accessible beaches

With the regional "Il Mare per Tutti" project, won in 2022 together with Pietra Ligure, Borgio Verezzi and Loano, the town equipped its three free beaches: boardwalks to reach the sea independently in a wheelchair, four Job chairs for bathing, gazebos for shade, twenty-four raised sunbeds and large tilting umbrellas. The Lega Navale of Finale has a boat with a hoist for boarding, and in the project's summers it ran cetacean-watching trips, canoe outings and sailing.

With a dog

Finale Ligure has several beach clubs that accept animals: the town, with the beach-club and hotel associations, has built a dog-friendly offer. Rules vary from one beach club to another, so ask when you book.

The seaside walk

The promenade links almost everything: from Finalmarina to Finalpia, then below the Castelletto to Capo San Donato and from there, still along the sea, to Varigotti. From the station to piazza Lagorio is about six kilometres, an hour and twenty minutes on foot; for the way back there is bus line 40.
