The third stage of the Alta Via delle Cinque Terre runs from Cigoletta to Il Termine: 7.1 km along the ridge that marks the Park boundary, with about 330 metres of ascent, which the National Park estimates at three and a quarter hours.
The path is packed earth, rough in places, and runs almost entirely through woodland of chestnut, Turkey oak, holm oak and pine; small wild animals are often seen. It reaches the saddle of Malpertuso, at 815 metres the highest peak in the Cinque Terre, then makes a long descent to Foce di Drignana, where trail 508 branches off to Vernazza.
Further on, a detour of a few minutes leads to the small church of Santa Croce, with a fine view of the sea; then the path continues gently and downhill to Il Termine.
