Trail 585 is the old mule track climbing from Volastra to the watershed between the sea and the Vara valley, at the Sella di Monte Galera: 1.9 kilometres and 230 metres of ascent, three quarters of an hour according to the National Park. It can also be ridden by bike.

It branches off to the right from trail 506 just past Volastra and climbs through a chestnut wood on the south-east side of Monte Le Croci. It then crosses to the south side of Monte Capri, where the wood becomes a mix of chestnut and downy oak.

Just below the Costa Galera pass it joins trail 502 and reaches the saddle, a junction with the Alta Via delle Cinque Terre.
