Trail 535 starts from Campiglia, the village above La Spezia where the Alta Via stops, and heads down towards Monesteroli: 3.8 kilometres and 200 metres of ascent, an hour and a half according to the National Park.

You take Vico Codemin: the surface, concrete at first, soon becomes a path and crosses well-kept terraces, some of them growing saffron, reintroduced by the Campiglia association. You reach a viewpoint with a wooden bench.

Then the path drops into a holm-oak wood to a stone wall with carved inscriptions, where trail 504C branches off left to Schiara. Carrying on, you cross the Schiara gully and reach the first hairpin of the Sant'Antonio–Schiara road. Along the way is the Nozzano fountain, but its water is not drinkable: bring your own from Campiglia.
