Dolceacqua
Dolceacqua lies inland from Imperia, half an hour from the sea, and is recognised by the humpback bridge Monet painted more than once. Above the village stand the remains of the Doria castle; below it, stone lanes and the cellars of Rossese wine. It is where you go when the coast is full and you want to see what Liguria looks like as soon as you climb.
