The first seaside village west of Genoa
Arenzano is located just west of Genoa, on the coast leading towards Varazze and Savona, and is a popular beach destination mainly for locals due to its proximity to the capital. The promenade and beaches, interspersed with rocky stretches, run along the entire front of the village.
The Pallavicini Castle and the Sanctuary
The Pallavicini castle, in neo-Gothic style, overlooks the village with its large historic English park, one of the most notable in Liguria for its botanical variety: today it houses the town hall, while the park is open to visitors. Nearby stands the sanctuary of the Child Jesus of Prague, a pilgrimage site, featuring a large statue and a devotional path in the greenery.
Between sea and hinterland
Behind the village, the hills of Arenzano offer trails leading to Monte Reixa and the Beigua Park, with panoramic views of the Gulf of Genoa: an alternative to beach days for those staying in the area, with varying elevation and difficulty levels managed by the Beigua Park hiking network.
How to get there
Arenzano has its own train station on the Genoa–Ventimiglia line, with frequent regional trains from Genoa (a few minutes of travel): it is one of the most easily accessible seaside destinations without a car for those staying in the capital.
