SoggiornaThe 593V variant climbs from the seafront of Riomaggiore to the Sanctuary of Madonna di Montenero: 1.3 km and almost 300 metres of ascent, which the National Park estimates at 55 minutes up and 30 down.
It is the steepest way to the sanctuary, and also the most scenic. You first cross the road linking Riomaggiore to the SP 370 coast road, pass the cemetery and then carry on up a long flight of steps until you meet the paved road again.
Along the way the Park highlights the views, the flora, historical and archaeological remains and, at the top, the sanctuary.
