The Route

The trail crosses olive groves and Mediterranean scrub, gradually ascending towards Monte Pisciavino, with views opening up over the gulf of Alassio and the surrounding coast as altitude is gained.

Before You Go

  • Bring hiking shoes and water: there are no supply points along the route.
  • Check the weather conditions: in the summer months, avoid the central hours due to heat on the exposed slopes.

Getting there and when to go

Starting point. Alassio has its own railway station on the coastal line: anyone arriving by train can reach the start of the trail without a car. For those coming by car, parking and the local rules are covered in the dedicated guide: how to get to Alassio and where to park.

Costs. The trail is freely accessible and there is no ticket.

Best time. Spring and autumn. The slopes are exposed and in summer the middle of the day becomes heavy going: if you come in July or August, set off early in the morning.

Accessibility. This is a mountain trail on natural ground, uphill: it cannot be walked with pushchairs or wheelchairs and requires proper shoes.

If it rains. The ground becomes slippery and the view over the gulf — the main reason for the climb — disappears: better to postpone.
