This is the page to keep handy during your holiday: not what to see, but who to turn to when you need something. Every detail comes from an official source, the Comune, the ASL 2 Savonese health authority or the waste operator, and where there is no source we say so.
Tourist office (IAT)
Alassio's IAT is at Via Mazzini 68, tel. 0182 647027, and also answers at info@visitalassio.com. It is open all year; winter hours are Monday to Saturday 9am-1pm and 2pm-6pm, Sunday 9am-1pm. Around town there are also more than twenty information points in shops and hotels in the centre.
Ask at the IAT about anything that changes week by week: events, exhibitions and museum hours.
The market
The weekly market is on Saturday in Piazza Paccini, the square with the post office.
Emergencies
For any medical, police or rescue emergency the number is 112.
Out-of-hours doctor (guardia medica)
The continuità assistenziale service, formerly guardia medica, answers on the freephone number 800 556 688, valid throughout the province of Savona. It operates:
- at night on weekdays, from 8pm to 8am;
- from 8am on Saturday to 8am on Monday;
- from 8am on the day before a public holiday to 8am on the day after.
It is free for residents of Liguria. If you live outside the region, the visit must be paid for, and the fee is collected directly by the doctor. We found no official announcement of a summer tourist medical service in Alassio for 2026: if you need one, ask at the IAT.
Hospital and emergency care
The nearest hospital is Santa Maria di Misericordia in Albenga, at Viale Martiri della Foce 40 (switchboard 0182 5461). It has a Punto di Primo Intervento, a first-aid unit for acute problems of mild or moderate severity. Its hours have changed several times between summer and winter in recent years, so don't take them for granted.
For serious cases the ASL points to the emergency departments in Pietra Ligure, at Santa Corona hospital, Via XXV Aprile 38, and in Savona. In a real emergency you don't choose yourself: call 112.
Pharmacies
Alassio has three pharmacies:
- Farmacia Inglese, Corso Dante 344, tel. 0182 640128;
- Farmacia Nazionale, Via Vittorio Veneto 1, tel. 0182 640606;
- Farmacia S. Ambrogio, Piazza Airaldi e Durante 8, tel. 0182 645164.
Evening and holiday duty rotas are published by ASL 2 on its "Turni delle farmacie" page, and may change without notice. At night the service for Alassio and Laigueglia is in Albenga, with the farma-taxi.
Rubbish: how to throw it away
Collection is run by SAT, and it works differently depending on where you are staying:
- zone A, below the railway, the part towards the sea: bins and underground collection points that open only with an electronic key;
- zone B, above the railway: door-to-door with crates, or shared building bins that open only with a metal key.
In practice, if you are renting for a holiday, ask your host for the key or the crates and the collection calendar: without a key the bins won't open. To find out where an item goes, SAT has the Ecodizionario on its website and the free SAT app, with the calendars. SAT's freephone number is 800 966 156.
The municipal recycling centre is in Via Gastaldi, next to the main cemetery: Monday to Saturday 9am-12pm, and Tuesday and Thursday also 2pm-4pm.
Buses, trains and taxis
- TPL bus line 40 links every town on the coast from Andora to Finale Ligure, with day and evening services every 30 minutes. Line 92 goes up to the village of Moglio, line 99 to Solva.
- The station is a few steps from the shopping streets and the sea. As well as regional trains along the coast, Intercity and Eurocity trains stop here for Genoa, Milan, Monte Carlo and Nice.
- The taxi rank is in Piazza Quartino, at the exit of the railway station, and runs 24 hours a day.
For arriving by car and parking there is a dedicated guide, linked at the bottom of the page.
Dog beaches and green areas
The Comune lists three beach establishments that accept dogs:
- La Scogliera, Passeggiata Ciccione, tel. 331 1322985;
- Baba Beach, Sant'Anna ai Monti area, Via Giancardi, tel. 0182 038999;
- Bagni Cipollini, Sant'Anna ai Monti area, Via Giancardi 34, tel. 392 9182872.
A few other establishments accept small dogs on request. In town there is also a dog run in the park of Villa Fiske, reopened in May 2026. The equipped free beaches are numbered 1 to 8 along the shore.
