From 10 October 2026 to 29 March 2027 CAMeC in La Spezia presents an exhibition on Francesco Clemente, "Il primato del disegno. Opere 1975-1985". Born in Naples in 1952, Clemente is one of the leading figures of international contemporary art and a key member of the Italian Transavanguardia theorised by Achille Bonito Oliva: in the Eighties he led the return to figurative painting with Sandro Chia and Enzo Cucchi. After a period between Rome and India he moved to New York, where he formed ties with Andy Warhol and Jean-Michel Basquiat. His work, across painting, drawing and fresco, explores the body, identity and the sacred in a visionary and symbolic language. The show is part of the project "Oltreconfine. Arte italiana 1968-1989".
