The Mao Crest is Spotorno's historic trail: number 291 on the Finale Outdoor Region map, a difficult enduro trail with sea views all the way. Four Canadian riders introduced it to the world in 1999.

For the 2018 Enduro World Series it was almost entirely reworked, linking three existing trails into a single one. It starts at 440 metres: according to the Finale Outdoor Region it is the highest seaside trail in the area.

The terrain changes three times: rocky at first, with lots of loose stones; then more flowing, on hardpack; finally more technical, mostly on fixed rock. Before you set off, check on the Finale Outdoor Region website that it is open: trails close for maintenance, races or bad weather.
