ATTENTION: partial closure in progress
As of the last verification date, a notice from the Municipality of Riomaggiore (March 2026) indicated a partial closure of the stretch on the Manarola side for cliff safety works, a condition that has occurred multiple times over the years on this trail following the landslides of 2012. Always check the updated opening status at the Cinque Terre National Park or the tourist office in Riomaggiore before you leave: an entrance ticket or alternative route (the regional train or the upper Trail 531, when available) may be necessary.
The Route
Carved into the rock overlooking the sea, the Via dell'Amore is the first section of the Blue Path (SVA) that connects all five villages of the Cinque Terre. It is the easiest and most touristy stretch of the entire Blue Path, but its geological fragility also makes it the most prone to closures for maintenance.
Before You Go
- Check the opening status: as mentioned above, this trail has a history of prolonged closures — do not take it for granted even in high season.
- Cinque Terre Card: access to this stretch is generally included in the National Park card; check the current conditions on the official website.
- Hours: the trail may have gates with seasonal opening/closing times.
