The Final-Borgo is short but iconic: it starts from Castel Govone and drops onto Finalborgo, with a fine view over the old town. It is number 402 on the Finale Outdoor Region map, rated difficult to very difficult, and it has given even the best Enduro World Series riders a hard time.
It starts fast on fixed rock and dirt, cuts across the Strada Beretta, built in 1666, and goes back into the Mediterranean scrub with a quick traverse and a couple of short kicks.
Then it plunges down to Finalborgo. The last stretch is steep, with four or five tight switchbacks worth checking before you ride them: the first on dirt, narrow and very steep, the last on fixed rock that is often slippery. Before you set off, check on the Finale Outdoor Region website that it is open: trails close for maintenance, races or bad weather.
